Patios and gardens built to be lived in, and still looking good in year ten.

Stoneleaf designs and builds patios, outdoor kitchens, planting, lighting and drainage for established homes in Myers Park, Dilworth, Eastover and south Charlotte. One team draws it, builds it and looks after it.

  • Licensed North Carolina landscape and hardscape contractor, fully insured.
  • Design consultation is $450 and is credited to your project when you build with us.

Recent work in the neighborhoods we know best.

Every project shows the budget and the build time, so you can see what a yard like yours takes.

How a project comes together.

You know the price and the finished picture before anyone digs. After that, the same crew stays with you until the plants have settled in.

  1. Design consultation

Within two weeks of your request

A designer walks the yard with you for about two hours: the grade, where water goes, where the sun lands, how your family uses the space. The $450 fee is credited to your project.

  2. Plan and 3D drawings

    Three to four weeks

You get a scaled plan, a planting palette and 3D views of the finished space, with a fixed price. We revise it with you until it is right, then schedule the build.

  3. Build

    Six to twelve weeks

One crew from excavation to the last plant, with a single project lead you can text. You get a short update every Friday, with photos.

  4. First-year care

    Four visits in year one

We come back at 30 days, then each season, to prune, adjust the lighting and irrigation, and replace anything that has not settled. It is included in every build.

What we build, described by what you get.

Most clients combine several of these into one plan, so the patio, planting and lighting are designed together.

  • A patio that feels like another room

Natural stone, bluestone and paver patios with steps, seat walls and fire features, laid on a base built to last through Carolina clay and freeze-thaw.

    Typically $28,000 to $95,000

  • A kitchen you cook in all summer

Built-in grills, counters, covered bars and refrigeration, with gas, water and power run properly and inspected.

    Typically $45,000 to $130,000

  • Borders that look good in January

Planting plans with evergreen structure, native perennials and trees sized for the spot, so the garden has shape in every season.

Typically $12,000 to $40,000 as part of a project

  • Evenings that carry on after dark

Low-voltage lighting for steps, paths, walls and trees, on a timer and dimmable, so the yard is usable and safe at night.

    Typically $6,000 to $22,000

  • A yard that stays dry

Regrading, French drains, dry creek beds and rain gardens, built before the first stone is laid and hidden in the finished design.

    Typically $8,000 to $35,000

  • Privacy that grows in

Screening with evergreen hedges, stone walls, cedar fences and trellis, planted at a size that works from the first summer.

    Typically $9,000 to $38,000

Seasonal care plans, so the work keeps looking the way it did on handover.

First-year care is included with every build. After that, choose the plan that fits the garden.

The people who will be in your yard.

The designer who walks your site is the one who draws the plan, and the foreman who builds it works to that same drawing.

Planting lead and hardscape foreman

Hannah sets out and plants every bed. Marcus has laid stone for fifteen years and runs the build crew.

And eleven more.

Stone masons, equipment operators, a lighting technician and Carla, who keeps the schedule and answers the phone. Everyone on site is on our payroll. We do not subcontract the stonework or the planting.

What homeowners say after the first full season.

“We talked to four companies. Stoneleaf was the only one that talked about where the water goes before they talked about the stone. Fourteen months on, after a wet spring and two big storms, the courtyard has not held a puddle.”

Elaine, Dilworth. Bluestone courtyard.

“Greg's drawings were so clear that my husband, who does not care about gardens, signed off in one meeting. The build ran a week over because of rain, and Marcus called us on Friday to say so before we had to ask.”

Priya, Myers Park. Lighting and borders.

“The kitchen gets more use in one summer than our old deck did in five years. They also came back at 30 days and reset a coping stone that had settled. No charge, no fuss.”

Tom and Denise, Cotswold. Covered kitchen.

“Not the lowest price, but the only quote where every line made sense to me.”

Ravi, Ballantyne. Terrace and fire pit.

Questions we hear before the first visit.

What does a project cost?

Most of our projects run between $25,000 and $150,000. A patio with seat walls and planting is usually $50,000 to $95,000. A full outdoor kitchen with cover and lighting is usually $95,000 to $130,000. You will have a fixed price in writing before any work is scheduled.

How soon can you start?

Design consultations are usually within two weeks. After you approve the plan, builds start about six to ten weeks later, depending on the season. Spring is our busiest time, so people who plan in winter get the best dates.

Do you handle permits and HOA approval?

Yes. We pull the permits and prepare the drawings that your HOA or architectural review board asks for. In Myers Park and Eastover that is often the slowest step, so we start it early.

Can you build through the winter?

Stone, walls and drainage can go in all winter in Charlotte. We plant from October to early December and again from March to May, so a winter build finishes with planting when it is the right time for the plants.

What if I only need a small job?

We take on complete projects, usually $25,000 and up, because that is where a design-and-build team makes the difference. For a single bed or a repair, a local maintenance crew will serve you better, and we are glad to suggest one.

Request a design consultation.

Tell us about the yard. A designer calls you within one business day to set a time for a two-hour site visit. The $450 consultation fee is credited to your project if you build with us.
